By Raha Batts Shaykh Abdul-'Aziz Ibn Bāz said: The statement of the Prophet: "The best of that with which you can be treated is Hijāmah" indicates that Hijāmah is an excellent method of treatment. In fact, it is the best of that with which the people can be treated when the state of the blood changes, rages, and wells up. The medical experts and people of insight hold that Hijāmah removes the excess blood which is harmful and stagnant. It is decreased and removed by way of Hijāmah such that pure healthy blood remains. However, it requires people of insight who have experience and are cognizant of how to perform Hijāmah and what is (healthy) blood and what is bad blood. [Explanation of Sahih Al-Bukhari] Pages 138
